Kean Ltd

Kean Ltd

The late Takis Christodoulou, a pioneering young chemist with a specialised knowledge in fruit processing, founded KEA, the Cyprus Essence Company in 1949, with the purpose to obtain the juices, the essential oils and other natural ingredients from the juice extraction process of fresh citrus fruit. They would then be used in drinks, perfumes and cosmetics. Basic materials were the indigenous aromatic herbs of the Cypriot countryside and the plush sun ripe varieties of Cypriot citrus fruits.

To avoid confusion with another company with a similar name, the company soon changed its name and in 1951 became KEAN SOFT DRINKS LTD.

He perfected the juice extraction process based on his constant study on understanding how the fruit should be handled during growth, the crop and the juice extraction stages, avoiding over or under ripping, bruising, heating and also setting the rules for preserving naturally and storing when concentrated. It was thus he created the standards and the ‘secret' of KEAN soft drinks. The great fruity taste of the final product, presupposes the authentic taste and quality of the juice with all its natural characteristics of texture, aroma, colour, vitamins and minerals.

The specialised knowledge in the processing of citrus fruit soon gave the impetus for a larger scale operation for manufacturing a variety of orange, lemon and mandarin juice based drinks, with a high juice content. The natural quality of the original fruit, the particularities of each taste and the processing of such sensitive fruit gave the best guaranty for the taste of the final product.

The first drinks to be produced were the Squashes (orange, lemon, almond, and sour cherry).with a high sugar content which acted as a self-preserve ingredient

PepsiCo-ΗΒΗ ΑΒΕ

PepsiCo-ΗΒΗ ΑΒΕ

Pepsico-Ivi is a subsidiary of Pepsi Bottling Group. PepsiCo-Ivi's origins run back to a Greek company called Ivi Panagopoulos.

Founded in 1926 by Nick Panagopoulos, Ivi Panagopoulos was a small beverages company in Maroussi, Athens, named after the ancient Greek goddess Ivi whose duty was to refresh the Gods in Olympus by offering the famous nectar.

During the '60s and the '70s, Ivi became a large enterprise with facilities both in Athens and Thessaloniki. The owners at the time also bought out the bottling facilities of the famous "Karandani" water fountains in Loutraki.

Milestone dates

* In 1973, the company Ivi-Panagopoulos acquired the exclusive right to manufacture, sell and distribute Pepsi-Cola in Greece.

* In 1989, the company Ivi-Panagopoulos was acquired by PepsiCo and changed its name to: Pepsico-Ivi.

* In 1999, Pepsico-Ivi became part of the newly founded Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG).

History - PepsiCo and PBG

The Pepsico's history dates back more than 110 years. In 1898, North Carolina pharmacist Caleb Bradham invented our flagship brand. Bradham registered it in 1903 and established a network of franchised bottlers to mix and sell his beverage.

As the Pepsi-Cola enterprise changed hands through the decades, the brand gained recognition and equity through greater distribution, clever price positioning, and creative national advertising - including some of the world's most-recognized campaigns and jingles. The company also began expanding its product lineup, adding low-calorie and flavored soft drinks.

Being a leading business in the food and beverage industry worldwide, PepsiCo is one of the most successful companies in the consumer goods sector, employing more than 198.000 people and exceeding $43 billion in annual sales.

Olympic Brewery S.A.

Olympic Brewery S.A.

FIX is a brand of Greek lager beer. The Fix brewery was founded in 1864 by Carl Johan Fuchs, whose modified name became the company brand. He had come to Greece from Bavaria with King Otto.

FIX became synonymous with beer in Greece, enjoying a virtual monopoly in the country for about 100 years until the mid-1960s, operating a number of factories that also produced fruit juices and beverages. International competition affected company sales. It lost first place in the Greek market in 1973 and continued to decline until 1983, when it went out of business.

In 1995, the FIX trademarks were bought by D. Kourtakis wineries from the National Bank of Greece, which had received the FIX trademarks in the liquidation of the company. Kourtakis organized the Olympic Brewery (Ολυμπιακή Ζυθοποιία) to produce FIX Hellas name, with a label design strongly reminiscent of the original FIX label.
